Anabel and Francis’ Wedding Day

We had the honor and pleasure of hosting Anabel and Francis’ vintage inspired wedding reception recently.  Here are some photos we snapped while setting up for their big day.  The gorgeous color palate of blush, gold and ivory complimented the vintage details perfectly.  Congratulations Anabel and Francis!IMG_7341 IMG_7275 IMG_7277

224 Films

Today we feature the fabulously talented 224 Films, a wedding photography and videography couple.  Jackie and Mitch have photographed several of our weddings and we are smitten with their work. We are happy to share a few photos 224 Films took of a Alexandria and Marcus’ recent wedding at selaroM Events.  Enjoy!

224 Films

“We are Jackie + Mitch, your storytellers! We are high school sweethearts and feel so blessed to be able to work together every day doing something we love! We chose weddings as our specialty because we love the beauty of the day. It’s all about the emotions, smiles, laughter, the mother gazing on her beautiful daughter who grew up so fast, the groom tearing up as he sees his beautiful bride for the first time; you can see so much love that is present all around you. Being in love ourselves, we know just how to capture those special moments from both perspectives to best tell your story.”

Ruth and Richard’s Wedding Day

It’s been a long week and you need a little R&R to get by, so why don’t you close your eyes and travel with us to Ruth + Richard’s big day. Having one of the best backdrops for a wedding, SelaroM Events & Ballroom, the lovely couple kept their fuchsia and turquoise decor to a classic minimal with handcrafted centerpieces by the bride herself. Luckily, Wedding Xpressions Photography was in the house to capture each and every moment that we are now swooning over. Like the gorgeous fresh flower bouquet and sweetheart table flowers by Black Swan and the uber elegant cake by Chasing Butterflies — the bride had added the personalized penguin topper as a whimsical touch. Can’t wait to see the film? Go on, you’ll adore the inspiration!

There are weddings and then there are weddings that blow our minds and this hot little number courtesy of Dan Dalstra is one of those “stop you in your tracks” weddings with details that are too fab to keep to ourselves. For Kristina+ Jon, the details were created with every bit of perfection and are downright charming. Of course, the delicate palette of gold & ivory complemented SelaroM beautifully.

Old Hollywood Glam Wedding Inspiration

We are so happy to share with you a photo shoot we did with a group of our favorite vendors. We created an old Hollywood glam sweetheart table where a gorg bride and a handsome groom exchanged gifts with each other surrounded by beautiful colors of autumn. We teamed up with Belle The Magazine who came up with the concept. Wedding Xpressions Photography captured all the glamorous details. Ella Blu provided the gorgeous lace gown by Allure Bridals for our bride and The Tux Shoppe loaned us an iconic black-tie classic tux for our groom. The always fabulous team at Fiori the Flower Studio brought us some deep red flowers to complement the table were our bride and groom (models provided by Bazaar Models) exchanged personalized gifts by Things Remembered.
Belle The Magazine and Things Remembered are giving away a gorgeous Skeleton Pocket Watch – just like the one we used in our photoshoot. They will even include the personalization.  Enter the giveaway below and give your groom a gift he’ll never forget.

5 Reasons to Have a Buffet at Your Wedding

We can talk about wedding styles, color palettes, and décor for days (and days). But, one of the most important decisions you will make about your wedding is your menu and how your food will be served. There are quite a number of options to consider, but today we’re focusing on one: buffets. Here’s why we love them and hope you will too.
1. They’re less expensive. As a general rule, buffets are much less costly than a formal plated meal because your caterer does not need to have as many staff members on hand to serve your guests. Buffets with stations are the most common, meaning one or two servers are ready and waiting to meet the needs of each person at your reception.
2. Everyone can enjoy what he or she likes. Whether you substitute, ask for an item to not be included, or opt for a certain food on the side, it’s safe to say everyone has made changes to her meal before. Buffets allow your guests to be in control of what they eat and how much of that item they enjoy. Plus, you avoid asking guests to make their selection long before your wedding, and you’re able to skip the changes that will inevitably need to be corrected when their meal is served. No worrying to be had on your part!
3. You can still serve an innovative menu. Just because you’re having a buffet does not mean you can’t be creative with how you serve it! Think about create-your-own bars of any kind: breakfast, sliders, biscuits, tacos, raw fish, and dessert. If you’re expecting a larger guest count, opt for a few traditional selections too.
4. Assigned seats are not necessary. Buffets often encourage guests to continue to mingle while they eat (standing and talking while eating is very common!). As a result, you may be able to skip assigned seats entirely. (No worrying about making the seating chart!) However, if you imagine your guests sitting at tables, you may want to do assigned seats because the buffet provides a greater need to choose a seat with friends.
5. Buffets are faster. A formal plated dinner requires every course to be served individually. While this is definitely a luxury, it can sometimes cause other portions of your reception to feel rushed because your meal simply takes more time. Buffets, on the other hand, allow every course to be served at the same time. As a result, guests are able to eat at their own pace, mingle before you toast and cut your cake, and enjoy much more time on the dance floor.
